Yes, you found my privacy policy. But I tried to make it less boring than the usual privacy policy text.
Who we are
At Frugal Hen, your privacy matters. We know handing over your info is a big deal, and we don’t mess around with that. Lurking, subscribing, or snagging a deal? Your info stays put. No selling. No nonsense. Just frugal fun, minus the creep factor.
Our website address is: https://www.frugalhen.com.
Comments
Frugal Hen loves hearing from you — seriously, your comments make our day.
When you drop a comment on the blog, we collect what you type in the form, plus your IP address and browser info. Why? To help us kick spammers to the curb.
If you use Gravatar (you fancy thing, you), an anonymous version of your email might be sent to them to check for a profile pic. Once your comment’s approved, your pic shows up next to it. You can read their full privacy scoop here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.
Play nice, keep it helpful, and don’t be shady — trolls and spam get the boot.
Media
Sharing pics? Love that for you, but let’s not overshare.
If your photos have location data (ahem, GPS info) baked in, anyone could download them and figure out exactly where you were. That’s a no from us.
So, before you upload that fabulous shot, strip the data, not just the filter.
Cookies
We’re not talking chocolate chip — these are the digital kind. (Sorry to disappoint.)
If you leave a comment, you can choose to save your name, email, and site in a cookie. It’s just to save you from typing it all over again later. These hang around for a year like a loyal little digital helper.
Visit our login page? Your browser gets a quickie test cookie — no personal info, and it disappears when you close the tab.
If you log in, we drop a few more cookies to save your login and screen settings. Login cookies stick around for two days — or two weeks if you hit “Remember Me.” Log out, and they peace out too.
Editing or publishing a blog post? That sets one more cookie — it just stores the post ID and vanishes after a day. No personal data, no drama.
Embedded content from other websites
Sometimes our posts include fancy stuff like videos, images, or other fun embeds from outside websites.
When that happens, it’s like you’ve popped over to that other site — even though you’re still hanging with us. Those sites might collect your data, drop cookies, or track how you interact with their content. Especially if you’re logged into their platform.
Basically, if it’s not from Frugal Hen, it plays by its own rules.
We only embed content from sources we trust — but we can’t control their tracking, so click smart.
Who we share your data with
Short answer? Hardly anyone.
If you request a password reset, your IP address is included in that email — that’s just how the internet handles security. Otherwise, we’re not in the business of handing out your info like party favors.
We do use trusted tools (like Google Analytics) to help us understand what content you love, and we may work with affiliate partners — but that data’s anonymized, locked down, and never sold.
No shady sharing. No sketchy surprises. Just smart tools that help keep Frugal Hen running like a well-oiled, deal-finding machine.
How long we retain your data
Leave a comment? It sticks around pretty much forever. That way, if you come back with more brilliant thoughts, we don’t have to babysit your follow-ups in moderation.
If you ever register for an account (not common, but it could happen), we’ll keep whatever info you put in your profile. You can view it, edit it, or delete it anytime — except for your username. That part’s locked in.
Admins (aka the behind-the-scenes hens) can see and update that info too, just to keep things running smoothly.
What rights you have over your data
Your data, your rules.
If you’ve got an account here or you’ve left comments, you can ask for a copy of the personal info we’ve got on file. You can also ask us to delete it.
Just keep in mind — we still have to hang on to certain info if the law, site security, or admin stuff says so.
Want to make a request? Easy. Just email us at beth.casey@frugalhen.com and we’ll take care of it.
Where your data is sent
We don’t like spam, and we bet you don’t either.
When you leave a comment, it may get scanned by an automated spam filter. It’s just our way of keeping the junk out and the good vibes in.
Affiliate Partners
Frugal Hen is reader-supported, which means some of the links on this site are affiliate links. If you click through and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. These links help keep the blog running and the frugal tips flowing.
We only promote products and services we genuinely like, use, or think are a great fit for our audience. No random junk. No cash grabs. Just tried-and-true finds that match the Frugal Hen vibe.
As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.
Current affiliate partners include Amazon Associates, Expedia, Points.com, Beauty Society, and others, with more being added as we grow. We’ll always be upfront about what’s affiliate and what’s not.
Thanks for supporting what we do here.
